Cast

In the Heights is a diverse show set in Washington Heights, New York City, conceived by the creator of Hamilton.  Actors of all ages, race and body type are encouraged to audition. Due to the nature of the show, some roles are specific to certain ethnicities and to respect the nature of the play, we will make best attempts to cast as such.  For a full breakdown of roles, please go HERE.  All roles are available.

We are looking for both singers and dancers for this production.  Whether you consider yourself a dancer who can carry a tune or a singer who can move, we want to see you. Performers with strengths in Hip-Hop, Latin and Break Dances as well as rap or spoken word are especially encouraged to audition.

Audition Guidelines For open calls on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday:

Singers who can move:
Please prepare 16-32 bars of an upbeat song or ballad in your key. NO PIECES FROM THE SHOW, please prepare a piece in the style of the show. Choose a piece that you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strength. There will not be an accompanist, a bluetooth speaker will be provided or you can sing acapella.

First time picking an audition song?  Read this helpful article and feel free to contact us if you need help with sheet music - we've got lots of it!
Wear comfortable clothing as you will be asked to learn a short routine.

Dancers who can sing:
Dancers should be prepared to learn a more complicated routine. Wear dance clothes and shoes.
You may be asked to stay and sing. A prepared song is preferred, otherwise a song will be given to you.

IN THE HEIGHTS
Music and Lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.
