Mission

The Historic Seminole Theatre is the premiere performing arts center of Homestead, Florida. The Seminole provides a creative hub of theater, music, dance and education in south Miami-Dade county and the Upper Keys. The Seminole Theatre's mission is to make the live performing arts accessible to the diverse community of the greater Homestead region and to attract established and emerging artists of excellence locally, nationally, and internationally.

Vision and Values

Our vision for the Seminole Theatre incorporates the following values:

  • Presenting entertaining and high quality live performance experiences which are recognized artistically and popularly.
  • Engaging and welcoming audiences from all the diverse segments of our community with multi-faceted programming through Seminole Showcase Series, Seminole On The Air, Encuentros en Vivo, Artist in the Spotlight, resident companies and other performances.
  • Inspiring and helping young audiences make performing arts an active part of their lives.
  • Providing a first-class customer service experience for patrons and visitors.
  • Fostering an enthusiastic, respected and hard working corps of individuals who serve as staff, volunteers and Board members.
  • Maintain the Historic Seminole Theatre as a cornerstone of downtown Homestead and represent the values of the City of Homestead.
  • Encouraging collaborations with various organizations that are innovative, effective and mutually beneficial.
  • Being a thriving organization that is fiscally sound, and has endowed reserves to support its programming.

At The Theatre

Our History

The Theatre originally opened on November 26, 1921 as a cinema, primarily showing the then popular silent movies. The Seminole Theatre quickly became the place to go for entertainment and social gatherings in South Dade County and the upper Keys.
