There are two days of open calls – you only need to attend ONE day of open calls.      Tuesday, October 9 from 7:00-10:00 in the evening at the Seminole Theatre.

Wednesday, October 10 from 7:00-10:00 in the evening at the Seminole Theatre.

    • (Children under 16 will be given priority for earlier audition slots)

Please RSVP for your audition slot.

The system defaults to Tuesday, but you can hit "SELECT A DIFFERENT DATE" to choose a Wednesday Option

After open calls, you may be invited back to callbacks on Friday, October 12 from 7:00-10:00 in the evening at the Seminole Theatre.

    Cast:

Based on the Charles Dickens novel of the same name, A Christmas Carol is a classic, heart-warming, holiday tale of redemption that serves to remind us all of the spirit of the season!  The storyline is set in London, England, in the mid 1800s, and follows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by a series of spirits and set on a course to evaluate his life, his morals, and the meaning of Christmas.

All roles are available. This production will be implementing color blind casting and all ethnicities are encouraged to audition for all roles. The Seminole Theatre Players are committed to diversity and accessibility in casting and all volunteer roles. Qualified performers are encouraged to submit without regard to age, disability, ethno-cultural identity or gender.

There is a breakdown of roles, which you can see at the botton of this description.  Some roles will be tailored based on the best actors who come to audition.

Young Adults / Adults: The majority of the story and the characters are for older actors. There are a variety of principal and ensemble roles for young adults / adults ranging in age from 14 to 65. All are welcome.

Children: What would A Christmas Carol be without its leading (young) actor? There are roles, both speaking and ensemble, for children, boys and girls, who look and act between the ages of 6 to 14.

Audition Guidelines for Open Calls on Tuesday and Wednesday:

Auditioners are encouraged (but not required) to prepare a comedic or dramatic monologue. If you have no monologue prepared, we will have some short scenes that we will ask you to read and act out.

What is a monologue, you say? A monologue in theater can best be described as a speech presented by a single character, most often to express their mental thoughts aloud, though sometimes also to directly address another character or the audience. They are often great tools to evaluate an actor’s range, and common practice in auditions.

How to pick a monologue? Check out these 9 essential tips from Backstage Magazine. https://www.backstage.com/advice-for-actors/backstage-experts/9-elements-make-great-monologue/

Then, check out this database of monologues prepared by StageAgent https://stageagent.com/monologues

We want to see you be awesome, so don’t be afraid to prepare a monologue or just show up and read the script. We just want to see you come out to auditions.

Also, it’s very helpful to bring a resume of any other shows or related experience, plus a RECENT headshot or photograph (a computer print out or 4x6 print from CVS/Walgreens etc. is fine).

All those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. Sides will be provided, and you may be asked to read for several characters.

As the show is set in London, England, a British accent is desirable, but not mandatory. Please no extreme Cockney or exaggerated “Royal” accents. Think Downton Abbey, or Agatha Christie.
